Vilnius University

Vilnius University is the oldest university in the Baltic states, one of the oldest in Northern Europe, and one of the oldest and most famous in Central Europe, preceded only by the universities of Prague, Cracow, Pecs, Budapest, Bratislava and Konigsberg. Founded in the 16th century, it was the easternmost university in the world.


Vilnius, as the capital of Lithuania, is the home of the President, the Seimas, the Government and the Supreme Court. Diplomatic missions, educational, cultural, financial, research, and healthcare institutions are based here.
